Chawan Matcha Japanese Pottery Ceramic Tea Bowl Cup Ceremony Yunomi
Regularity. If our cup falls into the hands, it's not desirable to let go of it.
This is a hand formed faceted tea bowl carved out of stoneware clay. When I make a chawan I do not use mechanical or electric potter's wheel. This is an old Japanese technique.
This listing is for one tea bowl. Please note this is a completely handmade item; each one is unique, and it will look exactly like the one pictured.
My work is food safe, please hand wash. Do not use as a kettle on an open flame.
Dimensions Chawan Matcha:
Diameter: 4,72" (12 cm)
Height: 3,35" (8,5 cm)
Tea Bowl Chawan is a great gift for everyone for such occasions as weddings, birthdays, Christmas, Mother's Day, and others. Intended for the purpose of brewing tea. Not only it will be perfect for every day use for your favorite tea, It will make lovely decorative piece for your dining room. Or it will make wonderful gift for someone special.
Tea bowl (chawan 茶碗). A chawan is simply a teacup without a handle primarily used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony for preparing and drinking Matcha (powdered green tea), but is also used for other types of tea as well. It can also refer to a bowl for rice.
Shallow bowls, which allow the tea to cool rapidly, are used in summer; deep bowls are used in winter. The best bowls are thrown by hand. Irregularities and imperfections are prized: they are often featured prominently as the "front" of the bowl.
