This tea bowl is unique. Its shape was created only by hands (Hand formed). Only hands, black clay and iron or wood scraper. You can see fingerprints on the sides of the bowl.
This tea bowl is covered with wood ash. Natural wood ash: pottery surface is left unglazed and takes on color and markings during the firing from the melted wood ash. It was fired in an anagama kiln for 140 hours. The temperature reached 1350 degrees (wood fired).
Chawan was broken when it was taken out of the Anagama Kiln. But chawan was given a new life, Kintsugi was made
This chawan was created for communication, and it also does it on a tactile level...

This is a hand formed faceted tea bowl carved out of stoneware clay. When I make a chawan I do not use mechanical or electric potter's wheel. This is an old Japanese technique.
